The Commentary states: Below is the second text, the sixth meaning: the distinctions among the three grades of cultivation. One of inferior cultivation will definitely regress and cannot quickly bring it to manifestation. Some die immediately, because the treatise below states that it extends to retribution in subsequent lives. If one does not die and regains it, this is because regression and subsequent regaining are permitted. Later, when born in that heaven, one is not very bright and pure, and one's physical form is not very vast; the words "not very" apply throughout below. One will definitely die prematurely, not fulfilling five hundred kalpas. Although this fruit may be experienced for up to four hundred kalpas, it is still included in this grade; or, the greater part belongs to the middling grade, and the lesser part of kalpas belongs to this grade. Question: If after regressing one is born in the form realm and only then attains it by sitting, when born there is one bright and pure or not? The answer is: not very, as before, because it is included in this grade, being of a regressive nature and an inferior nature.
