The Commentary states: This is the ninth topic in the fourth section of the text. Regarding the discrimination of the four karmas, the Prakaraṇāryavācā and other texts establish a fifth karma; here, the four karmas are the same as in the Abhidharmasamuccaya. That [difference] is based on a distinct perspective and is also not contradictory, because within indeterminate [karma], whether the time of retribution is determinate or indeterminate is distinguished separately. As for its extending to retribution in later [lives]: only after [this concentration] is subsequently generated in the rūpadhātu does one experience this retribution; being reborn ground by ground, one later attains it without losing it, because no text contradicts this. With regard to places, it is not so: what kind of retribution is the prior concentration of the kāmadhātu? If one retrogresses and loses it in the kāmadhātu, one is said not to attain any concentration whatsoever; thus at the end of life one does not experience this retribution, and so it is called indeterminate retribution. Since it is said to admit of retrogression, it differs from the Hīnayāna, and therefore its retribution also differs.
