述曰：虛妄分別，過失之名，以《中邊》等說：能變識以虛妄分別為自性故，此即三界心及心所。以頌初句轉變之言，即第二句分別之體。

The Commentary states: "False discrimination" is a term indicating fault, because texts such as the Madhyāntavibhāga state: "The transforming consciousness has false discrimination as its intrinsic nature"; this refers to the minds and mental factors of the three realms. For the word "transformation" in the first line of the verse is the very substance of "discrimination" in the second line.
