The Commentary states: A general conclusion. By the reasoning of these two passages from the three masters: because one avoids the two extremes and there are no phenomena outside the mind, the extreme of superimposition is eliminated; because false mind and so forth exist, one departs from the extreme of deprecation. Because one departs from the extreme of deprecation, one eliminates the repudiation of everything as sky-flowers, as maintained by Bhavya and others; because one departs from the extreme of superimposition, one eliminates the graspings of the Hīnayāna schools that phenomena exist outside the mind. Thus the meaning of consciousness-only is established, conforming with the Middle Way. Because there is no one-sided clinging—the "Middle Way" refers to correct knowledge; when principle accords with correct knowledge, it is called conforming with the Middle Way. Up to this point, the three masters have explained what is transformed by consciousness, concluding the explanation of the verse text.
