述曰：今《無垢稱經》舊《維摩》云：「心淨故眾生淨，心垢故眾生垢」。前第四卷已引證第八訖，不言隨色等有垢、淨，故是唯心。

The Commentary states: The current Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra, the older Vimalakīrti, says: 'Because the mind is pure, sentient beings are pure; because the mind is defiled, sentient beings are defiled.' The previous fourth fascicle has already cited this to prove the eighth [consciousness]. It does not say that defilement or purity occurs in accordance with form and the like; therefore it is mind-only.
