述曰：此種子識，即本識中能生一切有為法種，各能生自果功能之差別，故名一切種。功能有二：一、現行名功能，如言穀中功能能生芽等；二、種子名功能，即本識中一切種子，此中隨說種子功能。

The Commentary states: This "consciousness of all seeds" refers to the seeds in the fundamental consciousness capable of producing all conditioned dharmas, each having its distinct capacity to produce its own fruit; hence it is called "all seeds." Capacities are of two kinds: first, samudācāra is called capacity, as when one says the capacity in grain can produce a sprout, etc.; second, seeds are called capacity, which refers to all seeds in the fundamental consciousness. Here, it is the capacity of seeds that is spoken of.
