述曰：自下簡略。簡略有三：此即初也，前能熏中，何故無第八心品？心品之言，即通見、相共有法等。答：第八心品更無所熏，已即所熏故，餘七並能熏故。若爾，八俱心所應是能熏，有心王所熏故？

The Commentary states: From here below are the qualifications and exclusions. There are three qualifications, of which this is the first: why, among the capable perfumers mentioned above, is the eighth mental category absent? The phrase 'mental category' applies to the perceptive division, objective division, associated dharmas, and so forth. Answer: The eighth mental category has nothing further to perfume, as it is itself already the perfumed, while the remaining seven are all capable perfumers. If so, should not the mental factors associated with the eighth be capable perfumers, since they have the mental king as the perfumed?
