述曰：外人近問：云何知彼末心非緣？遠問意者，云何知彼前心聚望後心聚為緣，非一一相望？
The Commentary states: The opponent asks an immediate question: How is it known that that final mind is not a condition? The intent of the distant question is: How is it known that that prior mental aggregation with respect to the subsequent mental aggregation serves as a condition, and not each individually with respect to each other?
