述曰：下辨勝顯差別，於中有三：一、總標；二、出體；三、例指。此即初也。如《大論》第五十七、九十已去，《對法》第五等廢立者，偈云：取境、續家族，活命、受業果，世間、出世淨，依此量立根。餘如《樞要》說。

The Commentary states: Below, it discerns the preeminence to reveal distinctions, wherein there are three parts: first, a general statement; second, identifying the entities; and third, illustrating by analogous reference. This is the first. As for the establishment and elimination in Fascicles 57, 90 onwards of the Great Treatise, and Fascicle 5 of the Abhidharmasamuccaya, the verse says: 'Grasping objects, continuing family lineage, sustaining life, experiencing karmic retribution, worldly and supramundane purity—based on this measure are faculties established.' The rest is as explained in the Shunyao.
