述曰：命根如前第一卷說。五受言隨應者，即遍行中受各別五受配也，或通八識，或不爾，故言隨應也；或體各各隨其五別，故言隨應。「信等」即以信等及善念等為體者，信等，等取精進，取二法全故，言即以信等者也。「及善念等」者，等取定、惠，此別境中，法通三性，此取一分，故言「及善念等」。

The Commentary states: The life faculty is as explained previously in the first fascicle. 'The five feelings as applicable' means that among the omnipresent [factors], feeling is assigned respectively to the five distinct feelings; or it applies across the eight consciousnesses, or it does not, hence it says 'as applicable'; or each entity follows its respective five distinctions, hence it says 'as applicable'. 'Faith and the others take faith and the others along with wholesome mindfulness and so on as their nature': 'faith and the others' takes vigor by extension, fully taking these two dharmas, which is why it says 'takes faith and the others'. 'Along with wholesome mindfulness and so on' takes samādhi and discernment by extension; among these particular [mental factors], the dharmas apply across the three natures, but here only a portion is taken, hence it says 'along with wholesome mindfulness and so on'.
