述曰：此為問也。第四辨依處等得果此問，因謂十因，緣即四緣，必應有果。果有幾種？依何處得？問依何處而得何果故。下文有三：先答果有幾；次答依處得果；後明十因、四緣得果，未明依處等得果，先出果體。

The Commentary states: This is a question. The fourth part explains obtaining fruits based on the bases and so forth. In this question, 'causes' refers to the ten causes, and 'conditions' refers to the four conditions; there must inevitably be fruits. How many kinds of fruits are there? Dependent on which bases are they obtained? The question asks dependent on which bases what fruits are obtained. In the text below there are three parts: first, answering how many fruits there are; next, answering obtaining fruits dependent on the bases; and finally, clarifying the obtaining of fruits through the ten causes and four conditions. Before clarifying obtaining fruits dependent on the bases and so forth, it first presents the essential natures of the fruits.
