述曰：謂本識中種子，總而言之，容作三緣生現分別。分別之言通攝心、心所，若見、相分，非唯自體也。除等無間者，唯心、心所相望，立此緣故。

The Commentary states: This means that the seeds within the fundamental consciousness, generally speaking, are admissible to act as three conditions to produce actual conceptual discrimination. The word 'discrimination' (vikalpa) generally subsumes the mind and mental factors, whether darśanabhāga or nimittabhāga, and not merely the self-substance. As for 'excluding the equal and immediate [condition]', this is because this condition is established only when mind and mental factors are viewed in relation to one another.
