The Commentary states: The second sub-section. The eight consciousnesses of one's own person, along with each of the eight consciousnesses' associated dharmas, darśanabhāgas, nimittabhāgas, and so forth, are collectively termed 'one's own aggregation of consciousnesses'. Taking consciousness as primary, they are dharmas of the same aggregation; hence, where 'aggregation' is mentioned below, it should all be understood in this way. First, when one's own aggregation of eight consciousnesses are viewed in relation to one another, there is definitely the sovereign condition, because this condition is universal. There is definitely no equal and immediate [condition], because it is only one's own consciousness viewed in relation to itself that constitutes this condition. This concludes the clear distinguishing of what is definitely present or absent: among the four conditions, two are definitely absent—namely, the causal condition and the equal and immediate [condition]; one condition is definitely present—namely, the sovereign condition; the objective condition is indeterminate, and will be analyzed separately below.
