8.271

述曰：由感當來餘生業等種子熟故，於今身中，前異熟果受用盡時，即是此身臨終之位，彼所熟業復別能生後餘果起，即先果盡時，後果業種熟，其異熟果而復得生，所以生死不斷絕也。由感餘生者，解「由」字。「由」者，緣由也；前果盡時者，解「既盡」。復別生果等者，解「餘異熟復生」也。下結答難。

The Commentary states: Because the seeds of karma and so forth that bring about future other lives mature, when the former ripened fruit is completely experienced and exhausted in the present life—which is precisely the time of approaching death in this body—the karma that has matured is again separately capable of generating subsequent remaining fruits to arise. That is, when the earlier fruit is exhausted, the karmic seeds for the subsequent fruit mature, and their ripened fruit can again arise, so that birth and death are never severed. "Because of bringing about other lives" explains the character "by" (you). "By" means the reason or cause. "When the former fruit is exhausted" explains "having been exhausted". "Again separately generates fruits" explains "remaining ripening again arises". Below, it concludes and answers the objection.
