述曰：下論廢立有七，此為第一。《雜集論》云：「所以老死合立支者，為顯離老得有死故，非於胎生身中，離名色等得有六處等故，是故各別立支」。

The Commentary states: Below in the treatise there are seven discussions of rejection and establishment; this is the first. The Samuccaya states: "The reason aging and death are established together as a factor is to show that death can occur apart from aging, whereas in a womb-born body the six sense bases and so forth cannot occur apart from name-and-form and so forth; therefore, they are established as individual factors."
