述曰：其所生果，若在未來，為令有情生厭離故，但總相說生、老死支，毀責名故。其所生果，若至現在，為令了知分位相生，說識等五，互相顯故。以今顯後，說五不遮；以後顯今，說二無妨。由此前說或依當來現起分位有差別，故說有前後，不爾相違。

The Commentary states: As for the results that are produced, if they are in the future, in order to make sentient beings generate aversion, birth and old age/death are only spoken of in their general marks, because these are names of deprecation. As for the results that are produced, if they have arrived in the present, in order to make known the mutual generation across stages, the five beginning with consciousness are stated, because they mutually clarify one another. Revealing the later by means of the present, the statement of five is not precluded; revealing the present by means of the later, the statement of two presents no obstacle. Therefore, what was said earlier was based on the differences among the stages of manifest arising in the future, and hence they are said to have an earlier and later; otherwise, there would be contradiction.
