8.481

述曰：第六第七、有漏有為無漏無為門，皆有漏有為。無漏逆生死，斷生死，無為非是緣起義故，彼非起故，此對大眾、化地等說。不爾，此門便為無用。

The Commentary states: Sixth and seventh, the categories of contaminated/conditioned and uncontaminated/unconditioned. All are contaminated and conditioned. The uncontaminated runs counter to birth-and-death and severs birth-and-death; the unconditioned is not of the nature of dependent origination, because it does not arise. This is stated against the Mahāsāṃghika, Mahīśāsaka, and others. Were it not so, this category would be useless.
