上來總是第二以十門廣解緣起訖，自下第三結惑、業、苦，歸本頌文，由惑、業、苦即十二支故，此惑等能令生死相續不斷，不由外緣生死續也。上來已三復次解頌文訖，自下第四段釋本頌文，中有三：初、釋生死相續頌文；二、因解淨法相續；三、結歸唯識。初中有三：初總解頌文，生死相續由內因緣等；次別解二死，後屬釋頌文。

The preceding section concluded the second part, which extensively explained dependent origination through ten topics. Below is the third part, which concludes afflictions, karma, and suffering by returning to the root verse text: because afflictions, karma, and suffering are precisely the twelve links, these afflictions and so on can cause birth-and-death to continue unbroken in succession, without birth-and-death continuing through external conditions. The preceding has concluded the explanation of the verse text in three alternatives. Below is the fourth section, which explains the root verse text. Within this there are three parts: first, explaining the verse text on the succession of birth-and-death; second, incidentally explaining the succession of pure dharmas; third, concluding by returning to consciousness-only. In the first there are three parts: first, generally explaining the verse text that the succession of birth-and-death is due to internal causes and conditions, etc.; next, separately explaining the two kinds of birth-and-death; afterwards, connecting and explaining the verse text.
