The Commentary states: If it is directly sustained and brought to life, directly brought about and attained, through the power of undefiled concentration and vows, because its subtle and wondrous functioning is difficult to fathom and unknowable, and because it is not the realm of the two vehicles, it is called inconceivable. Because ordinary sentient beings and the two vehicles cannot measure it through speech, it is called inconceivable; it does not mean that even bodhisattvas and Buddhas do not know it that it is called inconceivable. The fourth fascicle of the Laṅkāvatāra states: 'Mahāmati, because śrāvakas and pratyekabuddhas have not yet realized the selflessness of dharmas, they have not yet attained liberation from inconceivable transformation-birth; because the Buddha is free from it, he attains the dharmakāya of the inconceivable undefiled realm.' The name 'transformation death' is the same as in this treatise; the dharmakāya of the undefiled realm will be explained below in the tenth fascicle.
