The Commentary states: This explains the third designation. This transmigration of transformation is also called the "body of transformation" (nirmāṇakāya), because the power of undefiled concentration transforms it, making it different from the original body of delimited allotment; it is pure, subtle, vast, radiant, and clean, like a transformation. Thus it is named from a metaphor. The first two designations make their names manifest from their sense and function, whereas this one is taken from a metaphor. As stated in a treatise, citing scripture to establish the name: this is spoken in the sixteenth fascicle of the Prakaraṇāryavācā, where from "an arhat of the śrāvakas, up to... it is not a body of karmic fruition" are all questions and answers in that text; it also does not contradict principle. Hence we know that "taken from a metaphor" refers precisely to transformative rebirth. This concludes the second [section], explaining the names and also discerning the persons who obtain it.
