述曰：此外人問，如有學凡夫，由煩惱障助有漏業，能感生死，便不永入無餘涅槃。一切二乘有所知障，既能動無漏業，能感生死，即汝所言定性二乘，應不永入無餘滅界，有所知障及無漏業能感生故，此即小乘諸部共為此難，彼部此障不助感生故。

The Commentary states: This is an outsider's question: As in the case of ordinary persons and trainees, where defilement hindrances assist defiled karma and can induce birth-and-death so that they do not enter permanently into nirvāṇa without remainder; since all adherents of the two vehicles possess the cognitive hindrance, and since it can stir undefiled karma and induce birth-and-death, then those you call "the two vehicles of determinate nature" should not enter permanently into the realm of cessation without remainder, because they possess the cognitive hindrance and undefiled karma that can induce birth. This is an objection commonly raised by the various Hīnayāna schools, for in their schools this hindrance does not assist in inducing birth.
