The Commentary states: The above is the end of the second [part], explaining the two kinds of samsāra. From here down is the third [part], explaining the root verse text, which has two [sections]: first, the direct explanation; second, explaining according to objections. This is the direct explanation. The verse states: "The latencies of all karma" refers to the two karmas, sāsrava and anāsrava; because karma is not singular, having the three [types of karma] such as bodily [karma], they are called "all karma." "The latencies of the two grasps" refers to the seeds of the two obscurations; because both involve grasping and attachment, both are called "grasping." "Together with" and the rest of the text: "the rest" stands for the previous phrases such as "when the previous maturation is exhausted." Question: Samsāra of transformation does not involve separate dying and separate being born as does [samsāra of] distinct portions; how can it be said that "when the previous maturation is exhausted," etc.?
