述曰：第二解，為顯真異熟因業種子是，果即本識，皆不離本識故，不說現行，其諸種子即種子識。現行不然，各別體故。

The Commentary states: The second explanation is that in order to show that the karmic seeds, which are the causes of true maturation, and their fruit, which is the root consciousness, are both not separate from the root consciousness, it does not speak of active manifestations; those seeds are themselves the seed-consciousness. Active manifestations are not so, because they have separate substances.
