述曰：此諸現行善惡等法，雖亦是異熟因，不即與果，熏於種子已，要於後時方與果故，但說種子。問：六識之中亦有異熟果，何故頌不說前盡後生？六識現行亦不離識，是異熟果故。

The Commentary states: Although these active wholesome, unwholesome, and other phenomena are also causes of maturation, they do not immediately give their fruit; having perfumed seeds, they must give their fruit at a later time; thus it only speaks of seeds. Question: Within the six consciousnesses there are also fruits of maturation; why does the verse not speak of the previous being exhausted and the subsequent being born? Because the active manifestations of the six consciousnesses are also not separate from consciousness, and are fruits of maturation.
