The Commentary states: This explains the words 'eternally remote' in the fourth line. That is, the imagined nature is falsely imagined; this is not temporarily non-existent, but constantly non-existent, and is therefore called 'eternal'. Because its substance is non-existent, it is called 'remote'. Since the word 'remote' already expresses the absence of the imagined, what purpose does the further addition of the word 'former' serve?
