The Commentary states: First, the path of full understanding: taking its name from what is known, it is named the imagined; its status as a truth is real, but its nature is metaphorical. Second, the path of permanent abandonment: speaking only of the defiled part, it is called the other-dependent, while the ability to abandon is subsumed under the thoroughly established; taking its name from what is abandoned, it is named the other-dependent nature; its status as a truth is real, but its nature is metaphorical; or the substance of the ability to abandon is precisely the other-dependent, so both nature and truth are real. Third, the path of realization: either metaphorical or real, as explained for the other-dependent; these correspond in order to the two natures.
