The Commentary states: If one were to say they are different, [that would be incorrect] because there is no separate substance: that is, what is falsely grasped is called the first [nature], and there is no substance of the first nature separate from the other-dependent. If it had substance, one could speak of difference; and since the consummate nature is the real nature of the other-dependent, one cannot say the three natures are different. As for their not being non-different: false grasping is the first nature, causal origination is the second nature, and true meaning is the third nature. Since these three are distinct, one cannot say they are not non-different, as stated in the previously cited Mahāyānasaṃgraha.
