The Commentary states: The prose commentary has two parts: first, it separately explains the three non-natures; later, it explains the verse's overall meaning. Within the separate explanation of the verses, it is divided into two: first, it explains the three non-natures of the first two verses; later, it explains the true nature of vijñapti-mātra of the third verse. In the first there are two parts: first, it explains the intention of the general answer in the first verse; next, it explains the three non-natures in the second verse. Now, the latter three non-natures: relying on the previously explained three natures—the imaginary and so forth—those three non-natures are established: first, character-naturelessness (lakṣaṇa-nihsvabhāvatā); second, production-naturelessness (utpatti-nihsvabhāvatā); third, ultimate-naturelessness (paramārtha-nihsvabhāvatā). In fascicle seventy-six [of the Yogācārabhūmi and in the] Saṃdhinirmocana-sūtra, where Bodhisattva Paramārthasamudgata requested the Buddha to speak, although there are various explanations, all are identical to this.
