The Commentary states: Explaining the phrase 'speaking with implicit intention.' Now the treatise states: 'That is, although the latter two natures are not non-existent in substance, foolish persons superimpose upon them...', and so forth. As stated in the previously cited Mahāyānasaṃgraha: the other-dependent nature is the cognitive object of false imagination, and the consummate nature, according to an indirect explanation, is also falsely imagined. Fascicle seventy-six states: 'It is not by distinct observation of the three self-natures that the three non-self-natures are established; rather, because sentient beings superimpose the falsely imagined self-nature upon the other-dependent self-nature and the consummate self-nature, I establish the three kinds of non-self-nature,' down to extensive explanations. Therefore, relying on whether the three natures possess substance or lack substance, the three non-natures are spoken of generally with implicit intention; the three non-natures do not mean that the latter two natures are absent, but only that what is falsely imagined is absent.
