The Commentary states: From hearing the correct Dharma onward, causing the old uncontaminated seeds to increase is named the gotra acquired through practice (samudānīta-gotra). The *Bodhisattvabhūmi* speaks of hearing the twelvefold teaching, which is the 'equal outflow (niṣyanda) of the dharmadhātu', flowing forth equally. That is, great concentration takes tathatā as object, giving rise to simultaneous correct wisdom, which subsequently produces subsequent wisdom; subsequent wisdom again produces great compassion; great compassion gives rise to the transformation body; and only then does the transformation body expound this Dharma; hence this Dharma is called an equal outflow. Furthermore, if one can awaken to the nature of the dharmadhātu, one can sever saṃsāra and advance toward great nirvāṇa; this [teaching] is also like this. Furthermore, the nature of the dharmadhātu accords with good and opposes evil, and is endowed with all virtues; this is also like this; hence it is called 'equal outflow'. 'Equal' means resemblance; 'outflow' means issuing forth: issuing forth from that and resembling that, it is therefore called 'equal outflow'. 'Acquired through hearing, etc.' refers to being acquired through the three wisdoms; it is not necessarily newly produced to be called accomplished, for causing the seeds to increase is also called accomplished. If the uncontaminated seeds increase through the three wisdoms, why does it say 'acquired through hearing, etc.'? The intention reveals that what can accomplish them is not only wisdom, but the dharmas associated with wisdom can also accomplish them. Since what accomplishes is such, what is accomplished is also like that; hence the treatise says 'acquired through hearing, etc.'
