The Commentary states: This passage exists only in the Abhidharma[-samuccaya-bhāṣya]. 'Grasped object' (grāhya) refers to the principle of the truth; 'grasping subject' (grāhaka) refers to the wisdom cognizing the principle. Dharma-receptivity (dharma-kṣānti) and dharma-wisdom (dharma-jñāna) take the principle of the truth as their sphere, contemplating the grasped object; subsequent receptivity (anvaya-kṣānti) and subsequent wisdom (anvaya-jñāna) take the preceding categories of wisdom as their sphere, contemplating the grasping subject. This exclusively establishes separately the uninterrupted and liberation paths, without synthesizing them; hence it is called separately establishing sixteen minds. The Abhidharma[-samuccaya-bhāṣya] says: 'The path belonging to the category of dharma-wisdom takes suchness as its sphere; the path belonging to the category of subsequent wisdom takes dharma-wisdom as its sphere'—which is precisely identical with this.
