9.624

述曰：不變為無相，為見所緣故，以無相分直照於「無」，「無」非有體，所緣緣義如何得成？由此故知，佛亦不能親緣於「無」。此文理證也。

The Commentary states: Not transforming into the sign of non-existence to serve as the object of seeing, if it directly illuminated 'non-existence' without a sign-part, since 'non-existence' lacks real substance, how could the meaning of an objective condition be established? From this it is known that even the Buddha cannot directly cognize 'non-existence'. This passage is rational proof.
