The Commentary states: "Equilibrium" (samādhi) is meditative absorption (samādhi), namely the mental factor of stabilization; it does not extend to distraction, and some do not state the three karmas [for it]. The Abhidharma-samuccaya says: When giving rise to the masterly application of the three karmas, the mind of all modes remains constantly at rest. Chapter 43 [of the Yogācārabhūmi] states: It is the intrinsically pure mundane and supramundane nature of meditative stabilization. Although those three aspects differ, all take meditative stabilization as their essential nature. However, the aspects of practice of the two kinds differ, as in the previous fascicle; the extensive nine gates are also as stated there.
