Regarding the darkness of the third bhūmi being able to obstruct, causing forgetfulness of dharmas heard, reflected upon, and cultivated: why is the first bhūmi called "having already attained non-retrogression", yet here there is still forgetting? Furthermore, the Bodhisattvabhūmi states: at the stage of practice with resolute faith (adhimukti-caryā-bhūmi), one sometimes forgets dharmas performed, reflected upon, and explained long ago, but upon entering the bhūmis it is not so; why does it now say there is forgetting? That which is attained in meditative concentration is mostly forgotten before the bhūmis, whereas upon the bhūmis it is completely absent; this is called realisation of non-retrogression. As for what is attained through hearing, reflection, and cultivation, there is still slight retrogression and forgetfulness, but not much. Furthermore, what is attained via anāsrava has no forgetfulness, whereas the objects of the three wisdoms attained via sāsrava are still forgotten; thus they do not contradict each other. In the three concentrations, it is definitively absent; moreover, it should not be considered retrogression.
