「趣、生」中言五趣者：《佛地論》說：以阿素洛多諂詐故，說為非天。有諸經中開為六趣，實則天趣，故五趣也。餘經亦說通鬼趣攝，隨順理故。或《佛地論》約多分義，實通二趣，如《法華》第一抄。

Regarding 'destiny and birth', where it speaks of the five destinies: the Buddhabhūmi-śāstra says that because asuras are full of deceit, they are called 'non-gods' (asura). In some sūtras they are expanded into six destinies, but in reality they are subsumed under the god destiny, hence there are five destinies. Other sūtras also state that they are subsumed under the ghost destiny, which accords with reason. Or the Buddhabhūmi-śāstra speaks from the perspective of the majority; in reality they extend across two destinies, as explained in the first volume of the Notes on the Lotus Sūtra.
