Answer: Both kinds of wisdom can realize the principle; having any noble dharma is called the noble nature. For those of determinate lineage, when [the obstruction to] knowables has no time of being severed, it does not obstruct noble dharmas and is not 'ordinary'. If it were established based on that, and upon attaining nobility it were allowed to be severed, that would contradict various treatises stating that the obstruction to knowables is severed exclusively by the Mahāyāna. If it cannot be severed, yet the obstruction is admitted to remain, how could they attain the noble nature? From this it is known that it is established solely on the basis of one [obstruction]. Just as the obstruction to knowables in the person of the two vehicles is not called an obstruction because it does not hinder their fruit, it is termed unobstructed.
