《論》：猶如幻事等。如《樞要》及《辨中邊疏》述。問：如依鏡緣還見自質者，如月中像誰之質耶？解云：以月為緣，還見本質，彼是大海大山魚質。若爾，豈見障外色耶？解云：許亦無失，如隔琉璃見外色故。又非障外，因彼月輪，不受眼光下見山海，如因鏡面，自見背故。

Treatise: "Just like an illusion, etc." As stated in the Shuyao and the Commentary on the Madhyāntavibhāga. Question: If, relying on the condition of a mirror, one looks back and sees one's own substance, then like the reflection in the moon, whose substance is it? The explanation says: Taking the moon as a condition, one looks back and sees the original substance, which is the substance of the great ocean, great mountains, and fish. If so, how could one see forms outside the obstruction? The explanation says: To accept this is also without fault, just as one sees external forms through lapis lazuli. Furthermore, it is not outside the obstruction; because of that lunar disc, not receiving the visual rays, one looks downward and sees the mountains and ocean, just as, because of a mirror's surface, one sees one's own back.
