《要集》等云：「或淨第八亦名為智，從喻相應，名圓鏡智，是有財釋」。又云：「或智用增，即別境惠名圓鏡智，或依主、或持業。餘心、心所或是有財、或依主釋；所變種、現唯有財釋」。

The Yaoji and others state: "Or, the purified eighth [consciousness] is also named wisdom; being named Great Mirror Wisdom from association with the metaphor, this is a bahuvrīhi compound." It also states: "Or, because the function of wisdom is predominant, the specific-object [mental factor of] discernment (mati/prajñā) is named Great Mirror Wisdom, which is either a tatpuruṣa or a karmadhāraya compound. The other minds and mental factors are either bahuvrīhi or tatpuruṣa compounds; the transformed bījas and samudācāras are exclusively bahuvrīhi compounds."
