答：破受苦樂，本為破我；不爾，破誰不受苦樂？二云：自聖教中不說有我，今者許有故，成違自。前解勝也。

Answer: Refuting the experiencing of suffering and pleasure is fundamentally to refute the self; otherwise, whom would one be refuting as not experiencing suffering and pleasure? The second says: In one's own sacred teachings one does not speak of the existence of a self; now admitting its existence constitutes contradicting oneself. The former explanation is superior.
