問：若爾！自宗能、所緣義皆應不成。故外難云：汝宗眼識應不緣色；有所緣故；如緣聲等識。難所緣量准可知也。

Question: If so, then within your own school, the meanings of cognizing subject and cognized object should both fail to be established. Thus the outsider raises the objection: “Your school’s eye-consciousness should not cognize visible form; because it has a cognized object; like the consciousness cognizing sound, etc.” The inference objecting to the cognized object can be understood accordingly.
