答：理實亦因餘能變之識，說所變言依相、見故。實理親緣唯所變相，若依本質亦緣能變；此隨相顯說所變言，實亦不應言識所變，不爾，前執應說變言；前既但言緣第八識，此亦但應緣五取蘊。

Answer: In truth and reality, it is also due to the other transforming consciousnesses; saying “what is transformed” is based on the objective and subjective aspects. In ultimate reality, what is directly cognized is only the transformed objective aspect; if based on the external basis, it also cognizes the transforming agent. Here, following what is prominently apparent, it says “what is transformed”; in truth, it also should not say “transformed by consciousness”. Otherwise, the earlier grasping should also have used the word “transformed”; since earlier it merely said “cognizing the eighth consciousness”, here it should also merely say “cognizing the five grasping aggregates”.
