When the I-maker first arises from mahat, it is called transformation, just like jars of ghee and oil in the worldly realm whose moisture oozes out when baked by the sun; the arising of the self from mahat has an identical meaning to this, being called silk-weaving. Alternatively, 'transformation' refers to that mahat, because it says 'first'—since mahat exists through transformation from the primordial nature.
