答：有義，經譯誤也，彼經下云，是十六法從五法生，所謂五塵。若慢已生十六法者，云何復云是五法生？故知譯謬。

Answer: An opinion holds: it is an error of the sūtra translation; below in that sūtra it says that these sixteen phenomena are produced from five phenomena, namely the five sense objects (viṣaya). If ahaṃkāra had already produced the sixteen phenomena, why would it say again that they are produced from five phenomena? Therefore we know it is a translation error.
