According to Bodhisattva Deva's Commentary on the Nirvāṇa of Heterodox and Hīnayāna Schools (Baitilun / Nirvāṇaśāstra): The Maheśvara master speaks thus: "The fruit is made by Nārāyaṇa, and Brahmā is the cause. Maheśvara is one substance with three parts, namely Brahmā, Nārāyaṇa, and Maheśvara. The earth is the support, and the lord of the earth is Maheśvara. All sentient and non-sentient things in the three realms are produced by the god Maheśvara. As for Maheśvara's body: space is his head, the great earth is his body, water is his urine, mountains are his feces, all sentient beings are worms in his belly, wind is his breath, fire is his warmth, and demerit and merit are his karma. These eight kinds are Maheśvara's body. The Lord (Īśvara) is the cause of arising and ceasing; all things arise from the Lord and cease into the Lord, which is called nirvāṇa; therefore the Lord is eternal, the cause of nirvāṇa for all things." Furthermore, a transmission explains: That school's Īśvara has three distinct bodies, namely the dharma, reward, and transformation bodies. They say the reward body resides in the form realm heavens and does not come down to be born, resembling the World-Honoured One's saṃbhogakāya. His transformation body follows the forms of the six destinies to teach and convert sentient beings, yet is said mostly to dwell on the north side of the Snow Mountains (Himālaya) or atop Mount Malaya in the southern sea; the dharmakāya is what is described in this treatise.
