1.870

若論其體，二十三諦即自性故，體無其差。若據相言二十三別，今約其相亦是所破，故等等之，初即約體故二別也。

If we speak of their substance, the twenty-three principles are identical to primordial nature (prakṛti), and thus their substance has no distinctions. If we speak in terms of their characteristics, the twenty-three are differentiated. Now, with respect to their characteristics, they are also what is to be refuted; hence they are included by 'and so forth'. The former was based on substance; hence the two are differentiated.
