本有師宗自有兩解，此牒初釋。初釋意云：善、惡二業是異熟因，異熟及因共一種生，此有一難，如文可悟。

The school of innate seeds itself has two explanations, and this restates the first explanation. The intended meaning of the first explanation is: Wholesome and unwholesome karma are the causes of fruition (vipāka-hetu), and the fruition and its cause jointly arise from a single [kind of] seed. There is an objection to this, which can be understood from the text.
