This reveals perceptual resistance: with respect to visible form and so forth, these eyes, ears, and so forth have the capacity to apprehend objects such as seeing and hearing. These forms are said to be the perceptual fields of the eye and so on, and that upon which the capacity relies is called a perceptual field; just as when a person has superior ability regarding something, one says it is 'my domain.' This is stated in terms of possessing the capacity, not necessarily the actual operation of functioning; hence their homologous elements (sabhāga) are still said to have resistance. Being obstructed in the function of apprehending an object is called perceptual resistance.
