詳曰：不然。《瑜伽》意問二十二中是何根分？不約三科明所攝故。故彼論云：問：男、女二根何等根分？答：是身根分。問：最後三根何等根分？答：是九根分，謂信等九。問：命根何等分？答：此無所屬，唯假立故。准此故知，對二十二明相攝也。

Examination: This is not so. The intent of the Yogācārabhūmi is to ask which faculty's portion it is among the twenty-two, not to clarify what subsumes it in terms of the three categories. Thus that treatise says: "Question: To which portion of the faculties do the male and female faculties belong? Answer: They are portions of the physical faculty. Question: To which portion of the faculties do the last three faculties belong? Answer: They are portions of nine faculties, namely faith and the other eight. Question: To which portion does the life-faculty belong? Answer: This has no belonging, because it is merely nominally established." Judging by this, we know that the subsumption is clarified in relation to the twenty-two faculties.
