答：句等所詮該於一切自類之法，名為共相；比量所緣通於異類，名為共相，如所作因通聲、瓶故。比量之心立一種類貫比餘法，尋句等心即不如是，故有差別。

Answer: What is expressed by sentences and so forth covers all phenomena of their own category, and is called a universal characteristic; the object of inference extends to different categories, and is called a universal characteristic, just as the reason 'being produced' applies to both sound and a vase. The inferential mind establishes a single category to run through and infer other phenomena, whereas the mind investigating sentences and so forth is not like this; therefore there is a difference.
