2.60

是過去世五識所變相分熏成後生現行，今為識境，故《觀所緣論》云：或前識相為後識緣，引本識中生似自果功能令起，不違理故。

This refers to the nimitta-bhāga transformed by the five consciousnesses in past lives perfuming and generating subsequent actualities, which now serve as the objects of consciousness. Therefore, the Guan suoyuan lun (Ālambanaparīkṣā) states: "Or the nimitta of a prior consciousness serves as the condition for a posterior consciousness, inducing the potentiality in the fundamental consciousness to produce a likeness of its own fruit to arise, because this does not contradict reason."
